ISSA TEAM RACE CHAMPIONSHIP HEATS UP

High School Sailing (Interscholastic Sailing Association – ISSA) holds the final Championship of the sailing season with the Baker Team Race Championship, in Seabrook, TX sailed out of Lakewood Yacht Club this coming weekend, May 24-25.  If the Mallory Championship was any indicator, the Baker will be equally as exciting.  The Mallory was won on the last race with merely 2 feet to determine the winner and both Mallory champions Point Loma High School and second place St. George’s School will be back at the Baker as well as third place finisher Shorecrest Preparatory School who won the tiebreaker with Newport Harbor High School.   Competition will be intense as both Point Loma and St. George’s were both topped in their own District qualifiers for the Baker by District rivals Newport Harbor High School and Cape Cod Academy who will represent as the top ranked from their respective Districts.

The Baker Trophy, dedicated in 1989, will determine the best of team racing schools among the 7 Districts represented by 12 schools across the USA.  The following schools have won their District qualifiers to represent their respective Districts at the National Championship:
