Herreshoff Qualifier - Tabor Academy

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-40s and a shifty, puffy breeze is what greeted the ladies when they arrived at Tabor Academy this morning for the first Herreshoff Qualifier of the season.  Registration, sailors meeting, and rigging went quickly and PRO Chris Conley has race number one circling the outer loop course by 1015 followed very closely by B-division on the inner loop.  The RC worked hard to keep the course square as Mother Nature pushed the breeze all over the place.  Early races became and exercise in patient, observation, and sailing skills. After each fleet had the opportunity to eat, the breeze shifted to a more stead 12 kts sea breeze for the final races.

Competition was tight all day, with Tabor jumping to the early lead before St. George's battled back to take the lead with 1 B set remaining. Tabor beat the dragons in both final races to secure the win.  Meanwhile Dartmouth HS closed strong finishing b-division with bullet-bullet to earn the fourth qualifying slot and a tie with Portsmouth Abbey.

Congratulations to the top four schools who qualify for the Herreshoff Finals at Hyannis YC on Mother's Day Sunday May 11, 2014. And much thanks to the Tabor coaches and students who race races, fixed damage, and worked hard to make sure it was an enjoyable day for all.
