2010 National Invitational Regatta

Day two: Racing started at 9:00 AM with an excellent 10 to 12 mph breeze from the South. A tie breaking round of six races was completed with North Kingstown High School winning the 4-3 bracket defeating Minnetonka High School and Loyola Academy to move into the Gold division. After a short competitors meeting, racing continued in a waning breeze. 12 races were completed ending in a three way tie for first between New Trier, Darien, and Hotchkiss, all with a 9-3 record. A protest was heard after the round and finally the race was called for lack of wind. Darien was crowned the winner by virtue of their head to head record, Hotchkiss took second and New Trier was third. Our sincere thanks go to the Wayzata Community Sailing Center and its staff, Cappy Capper and Dave Elsmo for organizing and running the event, Chief Umpire Betsy Altman and Umpires Mark Dunsworth, Alison Prange, Matt Thompson, and Bruce Martinson, PRO Blake Middleton, Race Committee members Ross Siemers, Kaye Siemers, Bill Siemers, Timon Weber, Carl Locker, and Robbie Virnig, scoring Don Shea and Andrea Porter and the many other WCSC volunteers’ who helped with food and housing.
