2009 Lawrence A. White Trophy

Doug Clark, Director of Sailing at USCGA was the Regatta PRO. I want to thank Doug and his team of Cadets for running a first class regatta. Special thanks to CGA Cadets for running 8 great races and moving many marks around to keep course square. Also thanks to Cadets on shore helping with scoring, and boat rotation.

Saturday saw winds from the north at 10-15 knots with gust to 20 in the morning and shifting to the NE at 10-15 knots with gusts up to 20 in the afternoon. Both A-Division and B-Division sailed 420's. 8 races were sailed in each division using modified triangles.

Sunday, as forecasted, brought 20-25 knots and gusting to 30 from the NNE. With the forecast for the winds to increase to gale force, all racing was cancelled for the day. There were five protests filed resulting in 4 disqualifications.

Congratulations to the Norfolk Collegiate of Norfolk, VA. The regatta was well represented with eleven different states of the nineteen schools sailing.
