November 26th, 2013 ISSA President Tim Hogan ISSA recently concluded their Annual Meeting for High School Sailing. This is the 83rd year in existence and our program is in great shape. Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) has added 100 high school sailing teams in the last 5 years. We are now up to 465 schools and have approximately 5,000 sailors participating. This growth is fantastic but we have a number of challenges that arise with this expansion.


Congratulations to Riverview High School of Sarasota, Florida for winning the 2013 Great Oaks Regatta. The Riverview team of Sam Armington and Aaron Burnett also won the Larry and Babs White Trophy as the top first-time team.


The 2013 Atlantic Coast Championship [ACCs] were hosted by Annapolis Yacht Club and Severn Sailing Association using both of their fleets of 420s. 18 schools representing teams from MASSA, MISSA, NESSA and SAISA competed in the two day event.


Matthew Long (Dos Pueblos HS, PCISA) had a strong day to win the Laser Fleet and Gary Prieto (Southold HS, MASSA) had all top six finishes on Sunday to take the Radial Fleet.


It was unseasonably warm in Newport today, but that lead to very light and shifty breezes. The race management team did a good job of finding suitable wind over the course of the day and were able to run 4 races in each fleet.

Ideal seasonal conditions greeted competitors on the Thames River at the Coast Guard Academy in New London Connecticut.


Maine, Vermont high school sailors compete under bright skies on Rockland Harbor Thirteen high school sailing teams from Maine and Vermont joined Rockland Community Sailing Program sailors Sept. 29 to compete in a beautiful regatta on Rockland Harbor.

SAISA's Ransom Everglades travels to England to compete in the 2013 School’s Week at the Itchenor Sailing Club and the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association Finals at the West Kirby Sailing Club


Point Loma High School wins the 2013 Baker Team Race Championship followed by Antilles in second and Broadneck High School in third.


Congratulations to SAISA's Tampa Jesuit for winning the 2013 National Invitational Tournament Team Race

Chicago Yacht Club is proud to host the 2013 Interscholastic Sailing Association's Fleet Racing Championship in May. The top high school teams from around the country who have qualified from their own districts will be coming to Chicago to square off for the championship. The event will begin on Friday with check-in and practice time on the water, and the racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday May 11 & 12 out of the Belmont Station.
